Wire Art Jewelry

The art of using wire to create personal ornaments is centuries old. Gold, being one of the first metals worked by mankind because of its malleability, was easily formed into strands and then jewelry to adorn the body. As methods developed to produce more consistent wire sizes and shapes, highly skilled artisans were able to create magnificent examples found in the tombs of the Egyptian pharoahs.

As the industrial age bloomed, the emphasis turned to mass-production and reproducibility. Wire art jewelry was hand produced, one-of-a-kind and it faded into a nearly lost art form.

Today, in a world of mass-production and "cookie-cutter" products, many of the ancient hand-crafted art forms are experiencing a strong resurgence. The discerning\ and discriminating customers of today are looking for unique and unusual products to express their own individuality in a mass-produced plastic world.

The following pages are just one artisan's expression of the ancient art form of wire art. Check out the links to see the diversity of wire art.
